Processing Technician / Shipper-Receiver (Warehouse)

Compensation: $19.40 Hourly

Aevitas Inc., a leader in the environmental services industry, is currently seeking individuals who excel in dynamic and fast-paced work environment. We are hiring for two key roles for our warehouse facility.

  • Processing Technician ( 5 positions / 3 days – 2 evenings)
  • Shipper/Receiver (Warehouse) (1 day position)

These are full-time, permanent roles with a comprehensive compensation package which includes a benefit package, group RRSP, performance-based incentives, and generous paid time off.

Position Summaries:

As a Processing Technician, you will be working with a team to safely load / unload hazardous materials and equipment from trucks; separate, sort and prepare various materials for processing and recycling; unpack, separate, sort and prepare various material for processing and recycling.

Primary Duties:

  • Safely load and unload hazardous materials and equipment from trucks; complete all associated shipping and receiving documentation
  • Transport lamps and materials between storage and processing areas using forklifts, pump carts, or other equipment
  • Unpack, sort, and prepare lamps and electrical equipment for processing and recycling
  • Set up and operate processing machinery; monitor equipment and perform pre-start inspections
  • Drain transformer oil and dismantle electrical equipment in compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Sort, tag, and weigh recovered metals (copper, aluminum, mixed);prepare and label skids for storage or shipment
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes safely

As a Shipper Receiver (Warehouse), you will be working with a team in the receiving bay to assist with loading and unloading trucks; operating equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks or dollies to move material; consolidate load fragments and stage materials for shipping; manage and monitory inventory.

Primary Duties:

  • Determine waste classification and characterization; ensure waste sample obtained and analyzed for incoming and outgoing materials
  • Coordinate with supervisor to manage and monitor inventory; assist in waste tracking and daily/weekly inventory
  • Ensure materials are packaged in proper containers, proper shipping documents are prepared and labelled in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Stage materials for shipping; consolidating load fragments; weigh and label materials; prepare necessary shipping documents
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or dollies to move materials
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring load is secured according to, or exceeding standards
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move materials as required

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand & power tools safely and effectively
  • Able to work quickly and safely in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and able to move from one job to another as required
  • Forklift experience considered an asset
  • Minimum 1 year shipping and receiving experience is required (Shipper/Receiver position)
  • Forklift experience is required (Shipper/Receiver position)
  • Knowledge of waste management and transportation of dangerous goods legislation is an asset
  • Able to work in a dirty and dusty work environment
  • Able to work in cold working environment in the winter and hot working environment during the summer months
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs
