Assistant Manager

La Ronge, SK, Canada Full Time

The Keethanow Group of Businesses Department is now accepting applications for the following Permanent Full Time Position based out of “Keethanow Lumber and Furniture” and “Keethanow Food Supermarket” in La Ronge, SK: Assistant Manager

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Provide assistance to upper management in supervising and facilitating the daily operations of the store.
  • Oversee the responsibilities of the Store Manager in their absence.
  • Provide direction, guidance and instruction to all store associates as required.
  • Ensure store conditions are consistently upheld to established standards.
  • Assist in creating weekly staffing schedules; ensuring staffing levels adequately meet business needs.
  • Learn pricing and product knowledge on lumber and all store related products.
  • Load and unload deliveries manually and with forklift when needed.
  • Deliver loads when necessary.
  • Maintain required licenses, physicals, etc. necessary to perform job requirements.
  • Greet and assist customers in a way that models exemplary conduct to other staff.
  • Handle customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the appropriate individual as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and security regulations are adhered to and required standards are met.
  • Perform end of day and any other reports including store related inventory in absence of manager.
  • Oversee and assist in inventory management.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of high school and College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training required
  • Demonstrated service orientation required.
  • Minimum of (2) years work experience in the lumber industry or Grocery industry is preferred.
  • Minimum (1) year work experience in a supervisory role in a retail environment preferred
  • Must be able to operate a forklift
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 90 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs which may involve repetitive motion
  • Ability to maneuver and climb step ladders and extensions ladders in a safe manner.
  • Possess math skills when performing basic operations
  • Excellent time management and prioritizing skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and motivate staff required.
  • Skills to monitor and assess staff performance required.
  • Basic office administration skills required.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable health and safety legislation.
  • MUST provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract
